The Search for Perfection

March 22, 2025

Perfection, an endless quest. It motivates and moves us. If not for the relentless pursuit of it, watchmaking as we know today would’ve never existed.

Perfection, your personal expression. We all have a different taste for it, through the years it has taken many forms. Let’s take a little break and appreciate some historical pieces that accomplish perfection in totally different ways.

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. The Gérald Genta design is just the beginning with this one. The integrated bracelet mostly brushed but with a flick of the wrist, all the polished facets shine through it. And the screws in the bezel, hard to notice that they are all aligned around the dial, but once you notice you can’t accept it any other way.

Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Ultra. The engineers at Bvlgari don’t like it easy at all, from the use of special alloys – tungsten carbide- and integration of the movement to the caseback, to the development of a unique horizontal winding mechanism. Everything on this one needs to be perfect for it to work.

Piaget Polo 79. This one tricks you, coming from a jewelry heritage. At first glance it looks like a golden bracelet, but it is much more than that. Look closer and you’d notice that what looks like another bracelet link, is actually the beautiful watch case, seamlessly integrated into the bracelet design.

These are some of the pieces that inspired my design, and so you can get a glimpse of what you’ll find in the end of our journey, I’m posting a render of the final design.
