The movement is the heart of the watch. The case, its shield. The bracelet and clasp, its embrace. But to express itself, the watch relies on its hands—today’s subject.
Simple and fragile, the hands are the voice of the watch. Their design must be timeless, relevant, and exist in perfect harmony with the timepiece and its wearer.
For me the choice was clear from the beginning, used in the classic Patek Philippe Calatrava and most recently widely applied by Grand Seiko on its models, famous for its impossibly thin edges. The Dauphine hand has proven its versatility and timelessness.
Their design is deceptively simple, but their magic lies in the execution. When sourcing them, the quality is revealed in how they play with the light. The two polished planes must flicker with the slightest movement of the wrist. Their intersection must form a single sharp line, pointing us toward the present moment.
Perfectly integrated to the design this special part is the one that will tell the story of time.
